What can I do if my milk turns out too gritty?Updated 3 hours ago
A few things can affect texture. Here's how to smooth things out:
1. Check the type of nuts you're using
Roasted nuts are drier and harder, which can add grit. For the creamiest results, use raw nuts, and soak them first if they're on the harder side.
2. Make sure your nuts are fresh
Older nuts can turn dry or chalky, which comes through in the milk. If a batch tastes earthy or gritty, try a fresher bag.
3. Use cold water when blending
Cold water helps ingredients break down more smoothly and noticeably cuts down on grit. Warm water can actually make things thicker and grainier.
4. Adjust your water-to-ingredient ratio
Less water makes thicker milk, which can feel grittier. Adding a bit more water often helps create a smoother consistency.
5. Try soaking harder nuts
Soaking almonds, hazelnuts, or similar nuts for a few hours outside the machine can make your milk extra smooth, though it's not required with the M1.
